A customer in San Antonio was giving his BBQ smoker trailer a full restoration. Once he sandblasted it down to bare metal, he found that several components on the trailer’s steering mechanism were pitted far past the point of saving.
Using his rusted pieces as patterns, Heartland Steel cut exact replacements on the CNC plasma table in our Woodway shop. We also recommended adding drain holes to the new parts so water can’t sit in them, which is what caused the corrosion in the first place.
Timing mattered. A freshly sandblasted smoker can’t sit for a week waiting on parts before it starts to flash rust. We had the replacement parts ready in 24 hours, and he was able to move straight on to primer and paint.
